About the area
Kent is England's oldest county, with more castles and stately homes than anywhere else in the UK. The historic town of Herne Bay was originally known for associations with smuggling, until it was developed in the 19th Century as a high-class seaside resort. Nowadays Herne Bay is a bustling town with all modern amenities close to hand and excellent road and rail links to London and the Continent via the Channel Tunnel.
